Christian van Oost grew up in the world of car racing. At the age of 6, Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans made him want to become a driver. A few years later, he attends a presentation of concept cars in Geneva, it will be a revelation: he will be automotive designer. He begins to draw vehicles on his class notebooks…
THE GREAT COACHBUILDERS AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION…
In the 70s the great Italian coachbuilders (Bertone, Pininfarina, Giugiaro …) dare everything on chassis racing cars they dress with ever more futuristic forms. A marriage between racing and the world of design that will give some of the most beautiful concept cars ever imagined … The achievements of these years are for Christian van OOST who lived them, analyzed and decoded, a database and an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
THE MAJOR CAR MAKERS TO LEARN THE JOB …
With his dual background of Engineer & Designer, Christian van OOST develops his technical skills in the rigorous and demanding environment of major car makers. After his first concept cars at Renault: Scenic (patent on the double floor) & Racoon … he enriches his references in Sweden at Volvo … then Italy, England and Germany and also collaborates on projects in Japan. These different experiences allow him to build strong relationships with his peers in different countries.
CAR RACING TO MAKE HIS DREAMS COME TRUE …
After managing a design studio and collaborating with Patrick Timsit in a Richard Berry film, Christian van OOST realizes part of his childhood dreams in 2004: he creates on the Le Mans circuit, CvOracing, a company in which he designs, assembles and markets his own competition vehicles. Its Sports-Prototypes endurance are designed around a simple concept: a beautiful shape, an efficient aerodynamic on a chassis aesthetic and performant. Christian van OOST is as comfortable at the wheel of a racing car as at the controls of an airplane or a boat, different worlds that he can thus better understand.
